Champagne tasting, 20th November, 7.30pm

"Ever needed a bit of pampering? Ever wanted to indulge in a bit of decadence? Wondered what to drink whilst waiting for dinner to cook? Then you need Champagne! But, in today's choice-ridden society there are just so many different bottles available. That's why you need to be at Jason's November Champagne Tasting (at Dave's). For a lowly fee of £12 you'll get to drink 6-8 different Champagnes complete with expert commentary from a qualified wine drinker. Sample the different brands and pick your favourite. If you only go to one Champagne Tasting on 20th November, then make sure it's this one!"

Details: It's your chance to drink 6-8 different varieties and qualities of Champagne.

The evening will kick off with a Spanish Champagne-equivalent and progress via an award winning supermarket's own brand (which beat the socks off several more famous names in a blind tasting) to a couple of famous brands and then finally some vintage champagne. Cost will be £12, but should secure at least half a bottle's worth of good Champagne.

If people plan to attend could they please respond to bristolactive@hotmail.com by lunchtime on Friday 19th so I can buy enough wine.

Carol Concert, Monday 13th December

Does anyone fancy getting in a Christmassy mood and coming to the
Evening Post Xmas Carol Concert on Monday 13th December? The concert
raises money for the charity and features amongst others:

Bristol Ladies Choir
Bristol Schools Chamber Choir
Avon & Somerset Constabulary Male Voice Choir
Bold Brass

Audience participation (with songsheets) is required in singing some carols and it is a good, fun night!

The concert starts at 7.30 and tickets are £6 (including booking fee). If
you are interested in coming along, please drop me a line and I will
arrange payment with you. I will be buying the tickets on Fri 26th
November.

Cheers, Rich (email bristolactive@hotmail.com)

Mulled WIne and Mince Pie Party, Friday 3rd December

It's getting that time of year, yes I know it's starting earlier each year,
but before things get too hectic with office parties, perhaps you would like
to join me for a Christmassy mulled wine and mince pie party on Friday 3rd
December from 7.30pm. There will also be a charity box if people wish to
make an optional donation to the NCH (formerly the National Children's
Home).

Totterdown Front Room Art Trail Opening Night, 26th November

Anybody up for some culture?

"FRONT ROOM is a free annual art trail around lower Totterdown in Bristol.
It
was established in 2001 by a group of local artists and has grown steadily
each
year, now attracting over 3000 visitors. There is an eclectic range of work,
including
paintings, photography, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics, artists books,
props,
poetry, installation and music (to name but a few)." For more details see
http://www.frontroom.org.uk/

I am planning to do the trail on Friday the 26th of November, starting 6pm.
Anybody else like to come? We will probably meet in the Shakespeare pub in Totterdown @
6pm,
then return there at 9pm for some more drinks. We did this last year and it
was
a lot of fun!
