Crucorney Fawr Walk on Sun 13th May

Hiya!

Crucorney Fawr Walk 13 May 2007 (start time will be arranged with those who are going). This is a challenging 8 mile hill walk, intended for those who feel that everything so far has been a bit namby-pamby, but were too polite to say so. It will take about 5 hours to walk, and involve an early start from Bristol. You will need to be fit, but there are no scrambles or ropework requirements. Crucorney Fawr is on the eastern edge of the Black Mountains. The walk takes us up beyond Hatterrall Hill, and winds back over hills and through valleys to the start point. On my try-out visit the views were spectacular.

Start point - The walk starts from Llanfihangel Crucorney (O/S Map 161 grid ref 330210), but I plan to start us at my house (details on enquiry from you) so that we can check we have all the gear and the walking experience we need to do this safely.

Directions - M4 west to A4042 north to Abergavenny. A465 up to Llanfihangel Crucorney.

There is no pub-lunch so bring enough food with you, and:

At least 2 litres of drinking water

2 litres of drinking water

waterproof clothing

walking boots that you are comfortable walking long distances in,

spare layers of clothing

mobile phone if you have one in case of emergencies

Let me know if you want to come on the walk. As ever, all walkers attend at their own risk.

cheers

Group Pub Night - Friday 11th May

Hi everyone!

I am organising the next group pub night on Friday 11th May, at Zero Degrees. Its the microbrewery pub on Colston Street, at the top of Christmas Steps, lit up with blue lights. They have a good mix of beers and lagers and brew some on the premises. Meeting 8.30 onwards.

Everyone welcome, especially new members, as pub nights are the best nights to meet everyone! Please contact me if you would like me to meet you before or when you arrive.
Hope to see you there!

Blaise Castle Walk on Sunday 20th May

Hello,

Fancy a pleasant stroll around Blaise Castle Estate, and Sunday lunch at the Toby Carvery 11am on 20 May 2007. Walk length 3/4 miles.

Start point - the free car park at Blaise Castle Estate (sham castle, quaint old mill & stream, rhododendon walk - the usual stuff)  in Henbury, which is on Page 39 of the A to Z for Bristol & Bath.

Bring drinking water, waterproof clothing, walking boots, & money for pub.

Please let me know if you want to come on the walk.  I won't book tables at the carvery - we'll see what space they have when we get there.
