Brockweir Walk Sunday 16 March 2008. Meet at 11am outside the Brockweir Country Inn. This is a walk with 2 difficulty levels depending on what you fancy doing on the day. From the Inn, we walk north along the River Wye with views either side of the river of woods and horses in the fields for about a mile, and the distant dulcet tones of motorbikers trying to top 100mph on the A466 to Monmouth. At this point if you want to make this an easy walk you can turn around and go back to the pub (navigation is easy as you will see). If you want to make this a harder walk you can come with me on the path up through the woods (a steep climb, not suitable for the elderly or infirm) to the Offa's Dyke path, which we then follow back to Brockweir. There are some lovely views of the river and the border country. By the time we get back to the pub we will have done about 4 miles, and will be ready for a drink.
Directions - M4 west to M48 (old Severn bridge crossing) - Have £5.30 ready for toll. leave straight after the bridge at junction 2, take the A466 past Chepstow racecourse, past Tintern Abbey, and on to the Brockweir turn on the right. Cross the bridge and park somewhere. Meet at the Brockweir Country Inn Postcode NP16 7NG, O/S Grid Ref SO 540 012.
Bring drinking water, waterproof clothing, walking boots.
Send me an email or Facebook Message to let me know if you want to come on the walk. As ever, all walkers attend at their own risk.
cheers
