Pub Walk on Sun 25th May

Hello,

Blaise Castle Estate Walk with 4 pubs en-route in Westbury-on-Trym, Sunday 25 May 2008. Meet at 11am in the Blaise Castle Estate Car-Park. It will include stops for a drink in The Victoria Inn, Post Office Tavern, Prince of Wales/Black Swan, and the White Horse. I am aiming to leave enough time for us to get in a food-stop at the Victoria Inn but I won't be booking anything so don't rely on this - bring a pie or something just in case. The walking itself will take about 3 hours, half of which will be after the last pub and will take a different route back, but I am not sure how long we will be spending in those pubs. The car-park closes at 8pm so we will be back there long before then.
Directions - The Blaise Estate is up at the top of Henbury Road (into Kings Weston Road) in the North-West of Bristol, found at square 1F on page 39 of the Bristol and Bath AtoZ. Postcode BS10 7QS. Get there early if you want a parking space in the car-park.
Bring drinking water, waterproof clothing, walking boots, money for pubs.
Send me an email or Facebook Message to let me know if you want to come on the walk. As ever, all walkers attend at their own risk. The walk is not suitable for anyone who is poorly or a bit broken.

cheers

Deletion of Inactive Members

We are currently reviewing our mailing lists and are deleting from the list people who we have not attended a group event in the last 6 months.

We currently have almost 400 members on our mailing list and it is clear that at least 200 of those, have no intention of attending future events. By deleting these numbers, it will allow us to concentrate on organising events for people who wish to be part of the group, and also allow us to actually calculate our true membership base.

If you have been deleted, but still intend to come along to events. Just drop us a line and we will re-instate you on the mailing list.

Brockweir Walk on March 16th

Brockweir Walk Sunday 16 March 2008. Meet at 11am outside the Brockweir Country Inn. This is a walk with 2 difficulty levels depending on what you fancy doing on the day. From the Inn, we walk north along the River Wye with views either side of the river of woods and horses in the fields for about a mile, and the distant dulcet tones of motorbikers trying to top 100mph on the A466 to Monmouth. At this point if you want to make this an easy walk you can turn around and go back to the pub (navigation is easy as you will see). If you want to make this a harder walk you can come with me on the path up through the woods (a steep climb, not suitable for the elderly or infirm) to the Offa's Dyke path, which we then follow back to Brockweir. There are some lovely views of the river and the border country. By the time we get back to the pub we will have done about 4 miles, and will be ready for a drink.
Directions - M4 west to M48 (old Severn bridge crossing) - Have £5.30 ready for toll. leave straight after the bridge at junction 2, take the A466 past Chepstow racecourse, past Tintern Abbey, and on to the Brockweir turn on the right. Cross the bridge and park somewhere. Meet at the Brockweir Country Inn Postcode NP16 7NG, O/S Grid Ref SO 540 012.
Bring drinking water, waterproof clothing, walking boots.
Send me an email or Facebook Message to let me know if you want to come on the walk. As ever, all walkers attend at their own risk.

cheers
